The 42nd edition of the Jean-Yves-Rivard Symposium will be held on May 1 in the amphitheatre of the CHUM Research Centre, under the theme “« Entre public et privé : le système de santé du Québec à la croisée de chemins ».
The symposium is organized by the École de santé publique de l'Université de Montréal (ESPUM), under the scientific direction of Olivier Jacques (Université de Montréal, CIRANO), in collaboration with CIRANO and the Centre de recherche en santé publique (CReSP).
The creation of the Santé Québec agency and the government's intention to regulate medical practice in the private sector have brought the debate on the role of the private sector in healthcare back to the forefront. The 42nd Jean-Yves-Rivard Symposium will provide an excellent opportunity to gain a better understanding of the important issues facing Quebec. Managers, clinicians and decision-makers will join experts from the research community to share their expertise, drawing on concrete examples from their experiences in Quebec, Canada and elsewhere in the world to identify avenues for reflection.
In addition to Olivier Jacques, who will deliver the opening conference, the symposium will bring together several CIRANO researchers: Roxane Borgès da Silva, Carl-Ardy Dubois, Emmanuelle Arpin, François Castonguay and Michel Poitevin.
