The hidden face of the digitalization of international trade: supply chains and logistics

Année thématique

CIRANO

Tuesday 6 Dec 2022
From 11:30AM To 1PM

When we talk about digital commerce, attention is most often focused on the electronically sale and purchase of goods and services by consumers. Much less is said about the digital exchanges, through information and communication technologies, that take place between companies during the process of manufacturing a good or producing a service. Even less is said about the digitization of processes and documentation required for international trade.

Patrick Leblond, Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa shed light on these lesser known aspects of digital trade. In particular, he discussed issues related to the digitization of supply chains, international trade logistics and international governance related to these issues.

Julien Martin, full professor at ESG UQAM and principal researcher of the CIRANO global economy theme moderated the conference and the question period.
