Workshop in Health Economics

CIRANO

From Thursday 30 Apr 2026 at 8:30AM
To Friday 1 May 2026 at 12:15PM

This conference will bring together leading researchers in health economics to present theoretical and empirical academic work on key issues facing contemporary health systems. The presentations will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • The organization of the health care sector, including service structure, care coordination, and governance mechanisms.
  • Payment schemes and financial and non-financial incentives for health care actors, and their effects on behaviour, efficiency, and quality of care.
  • The impact of health policies on service utilization, access to care, and on the equity and efficiency of the health care system.
  • The economics of pharmaceutical markets, from regulation to competition within the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Ageing, longevity, and long-term care, as well as their implications for individual behaviours and their consequences for public policies.

The objective of the conference is to highlight the most recent theoretical and empirical contributions that enhance our understanding of the economic dynamics of the health care sector and inform the design of public policies.

This event is organized by Marie-Louise Leroux (UQAM, CIRANO) and Pierre-Carl Michaud (HEC Montréal, CIRANO).

Registration is free but mandatory.
This event will be in English.
