The CIRANO invites you to the second edition of the “Le Québec des bâtisseurs” research initiative conference, an event dedicated to gaining a deeper understanding of entrepreneurship in Quebec’s economy.
This conference brings together researchers, experts, and decision-makers to explore the evolution and dynamics of entrepreneurship in Quebec. Discussions will address the history of major Quebec entrepreneurs, the role of education in fostering entrepreneurship, and the place of francophones within the province’s economic landscape.
The event will open with welcome remarks from Henri-Paul Rousseau and Nathalie Marcellis-Warin, followed by an introduction from Raquel Fonseca, who will present the context and objectives of this second conference.
The program will feature a guest presentation by Norma Kozhaya, offering reflections on the current challenges faced by entrepreneurs and businesses in Quebec. Several research presentations will follow, including those by Pierre Lortie, François Vaillancourt (co-authored with Amélie Sintes), and Mario Fortin and Alain Paquet, who will examine various aspects of entrepreneurial activity in Quebec and Canada, including fiscal, historical, and empirical perspectives.
The conference will conclude with a presentation by Raquel Fonseca, co-authored with Nicholas-James Clavet and Loïc Courtemanche, on retirement transitions according to worker type in Quebec, followed by closing remarks from the organizers.
The evening will end with a cocktail reception and networking session, providing participants with an opportunity to continue discussions in a convivial setting.
