On October 27, 2025, Geneviève Dufour, Director of Major Collaboration Projects at CIRANO, participated in an exchange meeting held as part of the Canadian Productivity Initiative at McGill University.
Launched by the University of Calgary in 2024, this initiative aims to develop practical solutions to strengthen skills, mobility, and employment opportunities across Canada. The meeting, held at the McGill Faculty Club, brought together representatives from academia, government, and the private sector to discuss labour mobility and the role of education in addressing skills needs.
This morning exchange preceded the afternoon public conference of the Canadian Productivity Initiative. The discussions explored the challenges and opportunities related to the evolution of Canada’s labour market, continuous training, and the growing importance of skilled trades in a rapidly changing economy.
