Catherine Haeck has been awarded a Strategic Chair at UQAM on child and youth development

Catherine Haeck, professor in the Department of Economics at ESG UQAM and CIRANO Fellow, has been awarded a Strategic Chair at UQAM to structure economic research on child and youth development in relation to health, education, and living conditions, with a focus on intergenerational mobility.

The Chair's work will draw on several databases, including “Enfants du Québec,” developed by the Institut de la statistique du Québec and the Observatory for Children’s Education and Health (OPES, CHU Ste-Justine), and Statistics Canada's Education and Labour Market Longitudinal Platform.

The new Chair will be composed of a multidisciplinary team of experts in economics, mathematics, health, education, and psychology, including CIRANO researchers Philip Merrigan, Charles Séguin and Sylvana Côté.

Catherine Haeck is also Scientific Director of the Research Group on Human Capital, Scientific Director of the Research Chair on Intergenerational Economics, and Associate Researcher at the Observatory for Children’s Education and Health (OPES, CHU Ste-Justine).
