CIRANO is delighted to welcome three new Visiting Fellows. These new members will bring their expertise to CIRANO's research projects and knowledge transfer initiatives, thus actively contributing to the institution's outreach. The title of Visiting Fellow is awarded to professionals, managers or researchers, who stand out for their exceptional careers and unique experience.
Martine Hébert, a renowned economist and former diplomat, recently held the positions of Quebec Delegate to Chicago and Quebec Delegate General to New York. With a wealth of experience in government and economic relations, she has made a significant contribution to the economic development of Quebec and Canada, notably as Senior Vice-President of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB).
As a Visiting Fellow, Martine Hébert will contribute to the activities of the CIRANO Pole on Data Science for Trade and Intermodal Transportation, notably as part of the St. Lawrence-Great Lakes Corridor project. Thanks to her expertise and extensive network with the American states bordering the Great Lakes, she will strengthen and coordinate knowledge-sharing efforts between researchers, experts and decision-makers, thus facilitating cross-border collaboration.
Anne-Marie Hubert is an experienced manager and administrator, recognized in both business and public policy circles, and a former Chair of the Board of the Public Policy Forum of Canada. She is currently Chair of the Canadian component of the Institute for Human Technology, and sits on several other prestigious boards, including those of the Conseil des Relations Internationales de Montréal (CORIM), MILA (Institut québécois d'intelligence artificielle) and the Institute of Corporate Directors, Quebec Chapter. She has been honoured by the Order of Canada and the Ordre du Québec for her remarkable contributions and commitment.
As a Visiting Fellow, Anne-Marie Hubert will contribute to the activities of CIRANO's Sustainable Finance Forum, a forum dedicated to exchanges and research on issues related to environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria. Thanks to her expertise in transition finance, blended finance and responsible investment, she will not only contribute to enriching the debates, but also strengthen and coordinate knowledge-sharing efforts between researchers, decision-makers and experts.
Louis Lévesque, a senior economist who has held key positions in the federal and provincial public services, was Associate Deputy Minister at Finance Canada and General Manager of Finance Montréal. He is currently Chairman of the Public Policy Committee of the Association des économistes du Québec and Senior Fellow of the C.D. Howe Institute.
As a CIRANO Visiting Fellow, he will contribute to activities in the major themes of Economic and Fiscal Policies and Territories, drawing on his experience and network to strengthen research and knowledge transfer initiatives, while promoting collaborations with the public and private sectors.
