Florian Mayneris, CIRANO Researcher and Fellow and Professor in the Department of Economics at the Université de Montréal, shared his analysis in a Radio-Canada report on the results of a survey about the housing crisis in Sherbrooke.
He noted that the population is now more favorable to greater public and community intervention in the housing market, recognizing that the private sector alone is no longer sufficient to address affordability challenges. He also mentioned taxation as an effective lever to finance affordable housing and promote greater social diversity in housing policies.
